Coriander (Latin name Coriandrum sativum) — is an annual plant of the coriander genus, Umbelliferae family. In the food one uses seeds (called coriander) and herbs (called cilantro). Both the leaves and seeds have pronounced aroma. Coriander is a very popular spice in Central Asia, its herbs and milled seeds give the dishes a distinctive aroma and flavour. Out of seeds the essential oil is made, it is widely used in medicine, cosmetics, and perfumery.
